Traineeships
Traineeships are similar to apprenticeships and are also types of career training for people. Generally traineeships take less time to complete than an apprenticeship and they are more focused on developing specific skills rather than a range of skills required for a trade. In a traineeship the trainee enters into an agreement with their employer and PaMPITO to complete a course of study that will result in a NZQA recognised programme.
Traineeship programmes may be National Qualifications, for example:
- the National Certificate in Business [First Line Management]
- the National Certificate in Distribution
- the National Certificate in Adult Education

Other traineeship programmes may be Limited Credit Programmes
(mini-qualifications) that cover a related group of unit standards. For example:
- the Certificate in Quality Management
- the Certificate in Health and Safety
- the certificate in Precision Engineering
