Standard Setting Body
What is a Standard Setting Body?
A standard setting body is an organisation that is recognised by NZQA as ‘nationally representative of experts in a particular field for the purposes of establishing standards for national qualifications’. PaMPITO is, therefore, recognized by NZQA as the expert organisation for Plastics and Materials Processing qualifications.
Essentially this means we know and understand what skills are required by our industry sectors and we translate these requirements into unit standards and qualifications that can be achieved. We rely heavily on our relationships with industry; specifically our relationships with the whole range of companies in our industry sectors, to keep us informed about their skill needs.
Coupled with our knowledge of NZQA requirements and best practice in skills development, we create meaningful qualifications and training programmes to build the skills that are necessary today to be successful in industry.
Developing qualifications and unit standards
As a Standard Setting Body we develop, write and maintain the qualifications for our industry sectors. Our qualifications are reviewed regularly by people in industry to ensure they reflect the skills needed by industry.
Our qualifications and unit standards also go through a rigorous quality assurance process at NZQA to ensure they meet strict criteria so they are nationally recognized.
Provider accreditation
As a Standard Setting Body, we also ensure that training providers that use our qualifications meet stringent criteria so that you can be assured they are qualified and experienced. All providers using our qualifications must be accredited by NZQA and approved by PaMPITO.
Consistency in assessment
We also ensure that all providers and workplace assessors comply with our assessment processes to ensure that assessments are carried out consistently. As a Standard Setting Body it is our role to ensure assessment is valid, fair, consistent, reliable, accurate and to the national standard. We do this through our Moderation processes |
