Standard Setting Body
We are the skills standard setting body for the following industry sectors:
- Plastics processing
- Glass container manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical & allied products manufacturing
- Paints & coatings (including inks and resins) manufacturing
Being the standard setter means we identify with our industry sectors the skills that are needed in the industry. We then write unit standards and qualifications that represent these skills.
Once developed, we ensure our qualifications remain current and are appropriately used through our stringent quality management system.

Arrange Training
As well as identifying the skills and knowledge required by our industry sectors, we also make training arrangements for employees to attain these skills. We have developed a system for learning that is both ‘on-the-job’ and ‘off-the-job’.
Our learning system is designed to be:
- Flexible – so that different company needs and individual employees’ needs can be taken care of.
- Affordable – so that training doesn’t become a heavy burden on companies and their employees.
- Effective – so that employees gain relevant skills and put them to use in their work.

Skills leadership
We’re available to assist companies with their training initiatives. We provide free advice and support to any company in our industry sectors looking to train their staff. We can help identify skill needs, develop training solutions, source suitable providers, support your trainees and monitor the success of your programme.
We can also provide funding information and in some cases offer subsidies against your training costs. |
