APPRENTICES
Contrary to popular belief apprenticeships still exist. However, they
are no longer time based, and success is measured by the apprentice showing
competency in each aspect of his or her training.
Apprenticeships result in trade or technician qualifications and fall
into two categories – Adult or mature apprentices both within the
workforce and for new entrants; and Modern Apprentices for school leavers
and other new entrants to the workforce between the ages of 16-22.
These qualifications are achieved by a mix of on and off job training
which includes a number of block courses, and normally takes between three
and four years to complete.
People who gain these qualifications earn high wages as a Plastics
Process Technician or a Plastics
Engineer and are likely to go on to manage or own their own businesses.
