EMPLOYERS
Arranging training through the PaMPITO
We will act as an unpaid broker on your behalf when dealing with training
on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
Although outcomes are geared towards national certificates, it is not
mandatory to achieve one as an immediate result of any programme entered
into. However, provided training is tied to an agreement with the PaMPITO
there may be substantial subsidies available to offset any cash cost to
you related to the purchase of learning materials, tutoring, and assessment.
We will even arrange for tutors to provide the training on your premises
if you so wish.
How then can we help?
There are two specific areas in which the PaMPITO is involved with in-company
training packages.
The first is continuing to encourage the signing and training of apprentices
within the industry sectors covered.
Contrary to popular belief apprenticeships still exist. However, they
are no longer time based, and success is measured by the apprentice showing
competency in each aspect of his or her training. They are available to
both school leavers and adults.
The PaMPITO is responsible for registering, overseeing, and arranging
training for apprentices, and a large proportion of the Government subsidies
available, go toward underwriting the cost of that training, particularly
for block courses, which may include travel and accommodation subsidies
where required.
The second area where we are involved is addressing the training needs
of staff other than apprentices; and we offer wherever possible, a complete
solution to a company’s training problems.
How is this achieved?
When meeting with company representatives, we propose and seek agreement
on the best outcome based on individual and specific company needs. In
most cases we start by sitting down with management and staff to discuss
those activities which will have the most immediate and beneficial effect
on productivity and staff performance.
Invariably the discussion will centre on a mix of the following:
- Improving processing skills
- Occupational health and safety issues for which there is a legal requirement
to train
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Quality management
- Numeracy and literacy
- First aid
- Fork hoist training
- And a myriad of other subject areas which are of specific interest
to individual enterprises.
From those initial discussions will normally come an outline of an in-house
programme that may addresses processing or production shortcomings; but
it could just as easily be one that improves literacy or numeracy, or
even team building skills.
Agreed programmes do not always initially result in a national qualification,
but our National Certificates in Materials Processing are designed with
maximum flexibility to allow all credits gained to count towards one on
completion of further training.
Whatever the programme, provided it is tied to a training agreement with
the PaMPITO, we undertake to take responsibility for all aspects of arranging
the training, including obtaining costings from potential Provider organisations,
and agreeing the training delivery mechanism, and maintain training records.
We look forward to meeting with you to address your own unique training
needs.
